You can now Download and Install the very first Custom ROM on Samsung Galaxy A71. Thanks to the Developer faizauthar12, LineageOS 17.1 is out for Samsung Galaxy A71. LineageOS 17.1 brings a lot of new features and a Stock Android to Samsung with all Android 10 perks.

LineageOS is the most trusted and most used Custom ROM for Android. It is an AOSP based Custom ROM that focuses on giving Stock Android experience with some extra essential features. There are many great features in LineageOS 17.1 and it gives a good performance and battery life. LineageOS also push monthly security patches that ensure the safety of your device.

Because this an early build, the ROM is still in the testing phase if you are looking for a Daily Driver, then try it after a few days or weeks. There are some problems with the Fingerprint sensor and the wireless earphone. The ROM comes from a Recognized XDA developer so you can expect it to be stable in the near future.

About LineageOS

LineageOS is the most used and most trusted Custom ROM out there. It was started as CyanogenMod and known to be the first custom ROM or firmware which was able to make its way to some smartphone as pre-installed default firmware.

LineageOS is based on AOSP code and you will hardly feel a difference from stock Android. There are some third-party apps like Trebuchet, AudioFX, Clock, Dialer. Jelly, Eleven Music Player, Recorder, Snap Camera. All the apps are useful and there are no Ads in them. LineageOS comes without Google app or GApps, you have to install them after flashing the ROM.

Due to its stability and performance, many other custom ROMs use LineageOS code as their base, some of them are Resurrection Remix and crDroid.

You can find the new Permissions manager in the Setting which will list all the apps using a specific sensor or service.

New Gestures

Android 10 finally brings a New Gestures system that can replace the traditional Three-button navigation system and Android Pie’s navigation bar.

Although the Gestures are inspired by iOS’s gesture (It is the same), the Gestures are now usable and are easy to use.

New Theming options

Theming options were found on Beta 2 version of Android 10 and are expected to come with the release of the Pixel 4 launch.

Focus Mode

Focus Mode is a feature introduced to curb your Phone addiction. The main point of this feature is that you can select a bunch of apps that are distracting and you can stop them all for a duration of time. At that time, there will be no notifications and you won’t be able to use the app.

New Share menu

The New share menu is now ordered alphabetically and the suggested apps appear on top of the list. It is a big relief as the previous Share menu was a complete mess.

Live Captions

Live caption is a feature that will display captions on a video played offline or with the Video player. It looks like a very good feature for Deaf and people with difficulty in hearing. Also, it can come in handy at night when you don’t want to wake the person sleeping next to you.

How to Install LineageOS 17.1 on Samsung Galaxy A71

Step 1: Unlock the Bootloader

Step 2: Flash the Lineage Recovery using Odin

Step 3: Boot into the Recovery and flash the ROM and GApps

Step 1: Unlock the Bootloader

Unlocking Bootloader in Samsung devices can be done without PC, just follow these steps:

Unlock Bootloader Samsung Devices

  1. Go to the Settings -> About Phone, and then Tap on “Build Number” 10 times.
  2. Enter your PIN or Password to Enable Developer options.
  3. The Developers Option will appear in Settings, Open it and Enable the “OEM Unlock”.
  4. Boot Into Download mode by Turning OFF your device, connect it to PC via Type-C cable and then hold Volume Down + Power Button. Release all the Button once you see a change in screen and then press Volume Up to go into Download Mode.
  5. Once the Device boot into Download mode, hold the Volume Up Button, this will Wipe all the data in the phone and will unlock the Bootloader.
  6. The phone will reboot to the System, now Connect to the Wifi and Skip the Setup.
  7. Go to Settings -> About Phone and Tap on “Build Number” 7 times.
  8. Go to the Developers Options again and Check if the OEM Unlock is greyed out, if it is, then Bootloader is Unlocked.

Step 2: Flash the Lineage Recovery using Odin

  1. Download and Install Odin and Open it as Administrator
  2. Boot Into Download mode by Turning OFF your device, connect it to PC via Type-C cable and then hold Volume Down + Power Button. Release all the Button once you see a change in screen and then press Volume Up to go into Download Mode.
  3. Open Odin flash tool and click on AP, select the recovery.tar file.
  4. Select the others BL, CP, and Home_CSC files from the Firmware you downloaded.
  5. Uncheck Auto Reboot in options and Click on Install.

Step 3: Boot to Recovery and flash ROM, GApps, and Stock-a71n.zip file.

  1. Boot to Lineage Recovery
  2. Wipe the Data, System, and Cache.
  3. Flash the ROM zip, after that flash the stock-a71n.zip
  4. Flash the GApps if you want to use Google services

Reboot

  1. Hello, I am a noob, but learning a lot while flashing my Galaxy A71. I have (finally) got TRWP working (also installed the unmentioned vbmeta.tar and that worked), but when I select to install the Lineage OS zip that you provide here, I get the following message “This package is for device a71n; this device is a71″ Updater process ended with ERROR: 7….” Can you help me out? Thanks!
