Speaking of IP rating, we will explain it later in the post but for now, let see how other smartphones are doing in the same price range of $400-$500 or 30000-40000 INR.
One more thing, many smartphone manufacturers skip the IP rating test to save costs and to maintain a reasonable price of the device. Oneplus have been doing this since Oneplus 6 release, they have said in the past that their devices are waterproof.
Nokia 7.1 Plus: No official IP rating but comes with a splash-proof coating
Pixel 3A: No official IP rating, Not waterproof in many tests done on youtube
Oneplus 7 series: Oneplus never comes with IP rating but Oneplus have said in the past that their devices are waterproof from Oneplus 6
Redmi Note 9 Pro ($200 or 12000 INR): Comes with an IP54 rating that makes it dust and Splashproof.
So, the IP53 rating of Redmi K30 Pro is just fine the much cheaper Redmi Note 9 Pro comes with a slightly better IP54 rating that makes it splash-proof.
So, submerging Redmi K30 Pro into the water will convert it into brick, and guess what? A Water splash will also do the same. So make sure to keep your Redmi K30 Pro away from Water.
What is IP rating and how does it work?
The IP rating has the format of IP[Any number between 0 and 6][Any number between 0 and 8], and the two numbers represent the capability of a smartphone to survive dust and water.
For dust, A 0 means a complete dumbo smartphone, which means no protection. A 6 score means complete protection, all Samsung flagships, and iPhone come with a score of 6
For Water, A 0 means smartphone is not water-resistant at all, while a score of 8 represents you can put the device in water beyond the 1-meter depth and it will survive.
