I’m currently using Evolution X OS (v4.3) on my Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 (6GB). The OS is stable and has got plenty of customization options for Themes, Status bar, Notifications, Gestures, Navigation, Fonts, Animations and more. The icons and the aesthetics is pretty good.
On the downside, there are a few bugs- namely, in flash notification, smart charging, compass, etc. I’m also unable to transfer data through USB, as the device doesn’t show up in the PC when connected via data transfer mode. The battery backup is not as good as the stock Android and I feel like even the internet speed is low as compared to before. The pre installed camera is extremely basic in functionalities (even worse than the stock ROM camera), and there’s no option to disable it.
Overall it’s a pretty good replacement over the stock Android, and I would rate it a 8/10.
Hi Alqama
Thank you for letting us know about Evolution X. It is a pretty good ROM. You can use GCam if Stock Camera not gonna cut it. And about the bug of USB transfer, if your USB options are greyed out when connecting to PC, then go to “Default USB Configuration” in Developer options and choose “Transfer File”, this one worked for me.
I am using Gcam, and I’ve tried many troubleshooting options for the data transfer mode, which hasn’t helped. I’m switching to ion OS. Thanks for the suggestions! 🙂
There was some problem with the android drivers on my PC. Reinstalling the drivers fixed the issue.
